Are you making the Most of Your Landing Page?

In the course of designing client websites, we’ve found it’s perfectly possible to lose prospects because the landing page puts people off investigating any further. The landing page is the page a customer sees when they click on a search result, or on an ad. Effective landing pages include a number of key elements, such the use of persuasive colours, brand features, compelling images, easy navigation, and a clean layout. These elements are important, and can help encourage customers to check out the other pages on the site. Here are a few more tips to make your landing page stand out.

Keep content simple

People don’t come to business websites for flowery language, so keep it simple. Be elegant by all means, but keep your content concise and to the point. If visitors have to work to understand your message, they’ll probably go elsewhere – hard but true.

Value add your content

Give customers an immediate return on their investment of time, effort and trust. This might be something like a free white paper or e-book for instance, or even a voucher or free gift.

Privacy

It’s worth including a clear privacy policy on your landing page. This should make it clear how you plan to use any information you’re given, and who else will have access to it.  It’s also important not to ask for too much information, too soon. Make sure people can opt out of receiving emails or other marketing collateral if they want to.

Make it easy to share

A little tip is to have buttons for any social media channels you use on the landing page, so people can easily share the fact that they have enjoyed your site, done business with you, or have gotten extra value through a giveaway or e-book. This is an easy way to gain good word of mouth referrals, and promote your business.
